Weather presenters

Why do weather presenters constantly want to turn themselves into TV personalities? We just want to know what the weather’s like to decide if one should wear flip flops or sensible court shoes. There’s one woman on BBC Breakfast who is far too chipper for early in the morning. She was wearing a sparkly scarf at 7am for goodness sakes. Tone down the perkiness please.

Local ‘meet your neighbour’ campaigns

Residents in one area of Brighton have sent out postcards encouraging local residents to boycott TV and sit out in the street on summer Sunday evenings to chat and have a beer with neighbours. Old skool ents, we like it.

Email scam names

It’s worth reading your junk mail folder just to see the names that online purveyors of dubious pharamaceutical products use. Recent favourites include Reginald Benoit, Maximilian Weber and Rubin Randle – where do they get these identities from, by trawling old US high school yearbooks or Alliteration Monthly?

The Brooklyn Nights meets Treacle Tart scenario, we might be a tad naff in liking this campaign, but we think it works. It makes us feel cosy.
